Purpose of the service (Alcohol):

The Service provides advice, information, assessment and treatment for adults where alcohol is an issue. 

Services include: 

Initial assessments for treatment within the service.

Supported community alcohol detoxification 

Referral for in-patient detoxification 

Assessment for locally based Residential Rehabilitation.

Hospital based alcohol liaison workers, giving on-site assessment and advice to those with an alcohol related admission and facilitating access to Community based Alcohol Treatment.

Time limited structured intervention programme delivered by trained staff 

Access to aftercare and ongoing support following structured alcohol treatment 

A targeted, intensive support service for a individuals identified as frequent users of healthcare services 

Access to a wide range of group work on offer within the service 

Access to support for carers via a dedicated support worker. 

Training for professionals in the use of alcohol screening tools, brief interventions and general alcohol awareness.

Purpose of the service (Drugs):

The Service provides One to One ‘Open Access’ drop in sessions and 'Appointments by Arrangement', offering Initial Assessment, advice, information and onward referral to adult drug services for treatment and on-going Recovery Focussed support.

It has four in-house prescribers (2 GPs and 2 Non Medical Prescribers), offering substitute opioid prescribing (rapid prescribing service available). 

Treatment is available for all illicit drugs, Novel Psychoactive Substances (legal highs) and dependency on prescribed/over the counter medication.   

Relapse prevention support and referral to Residential Rehabilitation is also available.

There is wide provision of group work and care planned one-to-one psychosocial interventions to drug dependent adults aged 18+.

The service also offers Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing and immunisation. 

Provision and Training in the use of Naloxone (administered when someone overdoses on heroin/opioids) is also available.

Referrals to the Friends and Family Support Worker are also possible.
